It lies across the Diablo Range from San Jose, and a duck dog owner could work it. Check the current hunt schedule on CDFW's page before you plan a day. The ground at Rio Vista is different: managed Delta marsh and upland cover, the kind of mix a dog meets on a real hunt. ## Clubs with South Bay ties The San Jose Retriever Club appears in The Retriever News list of AKC field trial clubs (2018 list), and the San Francisco Bay Weimaraner Club and the Vizsla Club of Northern California are listed with pointing-breed events at wildlife areas in the Central Valley.
