California hunt test calendar

How to find current dates

AKC lists licensed events on its Event Search tool. For a wider view across several organizations, the community calendar at bdarn.com shows events from many California clubs at once. Confirm on the official listing before driving.

Northern California retriever clubs

Clubs named on 2026 listings include Sagehen's Retriever Club (Suisun City), Marin Retriever Club, Sacramento Valley Retriever Club, Lassen Retriever Club (Anderson), Norcal Golden Retriever Club, Northern California Retriever Trial Club and San Jose Retriever Club. The Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Club has held an AKC test at Denverton. The California Retriever Training Association owns grounds near Suisun City and elsewhere. Clear Creek Sports Club in Corning and the Denverton grounds near Suisun City both appear on the listings.

Southern California retriever clubs

Southern California Retriever Club, California South Coast Retriever Club, Salton Sea Retriever Club and San Diego Retriever Field Trial Club hold events near Niland in Imperial County. Mesa Grande Retriever Club runs tests at Raney Ranch near Santa Ysabel, and Inland Valley Retriever Club has used the Prado area in Chino Hills.

Pointing-breed and spaniel clubs

Pointing-breed clubs on the 2026 list include Golden Empire Brittany Club, whose listing places events at Hastings Island Hunting Preserve in Rio Vista, plus the Northern California Brittany Club, the Vizsla Club of Northern California, the San Francisco Bay Weimaraner Club, Monterey Bay English Setter Club and the German Wirehaired Pointer Club of Northern California. Spaniel clubs include the Tamarin Spaniel Field Trial Club and several clubs in Southern California. Planning a weekend

Many tests are held on rural grounds, so plan your route, fuel, food and a place to stay ahead of time. Arrive the evening before when the drive is long. Many Northern California tests use grounds within reach of the Delta, which makes the hunt test day a pleasant day trip for local owners, and if you live farther away, read the drive times on the from your part of California pages.
