What should I bring when my dog starts?
For a Puppy Camp pup, Richard asks for a copy of the rabies certificate at 16 weeks to get the pup on his books. Bring vaccination records and any health notes, and ask on the call whether he wants food, bedding or gear; Puppy Camp's rate includes food.

Different dogs need different things, so there is no single list that applies to every drop-off. What follows is a practical starting point and the items to confirm with Richard before the day.
Paperwork and health
Records matter because dogs that stay or train around other dogs usually need proof of current vaccinations. See vaccinations and health for the general picture.
- The rabies certificate (for Puppy Camp, Richard asks for a copy at 16 weeks) and other vaccination records
- Notes on allergies, medications or past injuries
- Registration papers if the dog is registered and you may enter hunt tests
- Your contact numbers and a back-up contact
Things to ask about
Food, treats, crate, bedding and collar are all worth asking about. Some trainers supply them and some want the dog's own, and Richard sets his practice himself, so ask rather than assume.
Also settle drop-off day, time and pick-up; Richard's preferred drop-off days are Wednesday to Saturday. Hours listed on Google are 8 AM to 2 PM except Tuesday, but a call comes first. Owners drive in from all over California, and Richard handles the details of board-and-train directly.
What to leave at home
Ask Richard whether to bring your dog's collar, dummies or other gear. Showing up with the dog calm and lightly fed beforehand helps the first day go well.
